Asia Player of the Year Leaderboard - Scoring Criteria

There are three criteria when calculating points:

  1. Place finished at the final table

The final ten will receive points. Players receive points only if they are in the money. If a   tournament pays only five places, only the top five players get points.

  1. Amount of the buy-in
  2. Number of entrants

Total points are calculated by multiplying the point factors of the three criteria:

Place finished:

Place Points Awarded
1st 120
2nd 100
3rd 80
4th 60
5th 50
6th 40
7th 35
8th 30
9th 25
10th 20

Buy-ins

Buy-in (HKD) Points Awarded
$20,000 or more 3.5 points
$10,000-$19,999 3 points.
$5000-$9999 2.5 points
$2,000-$4999 2 points
$1,000-$1,999 1.5 points
$1,000 or less 1 point

The buy-in in rebuy tournaments is calculated by dividing the total gross prize pool by the number of entrants.

Number of entrants:

Number of entrants Points Awarded
Under 40 1 point
40-49 1.2 points
50-59 1.4 points
60-69 1.6 points

Every 10 additional number of entrants increases the number of points by 0.2, with the number of entrants rounded to the nearest 10.  The maximum points awarded for Entrants factor is 8.

Here is a hypothetical total point calculation example:

You finished in 3rd place in a $1000 buy-in event that had 51 entrants.

You receive 80 points for 3rd; the buy-in is $1000, which is a 1.5-point event; and there are 51 entrants, which is good for 1.4 points.

Thus, you receive 160 total points (80 x 1.5 x 1.4= 168).
